Begin

For the past few years my mom and aunts have been bitten by the quilting bug. I have watched them go about buying fabric, piecing quilts, and take them to a quilter to be finished. They seemed to be having good 'sister' bonding times. I had often heard them talk about taking their quilts to a lady to be quilted on a quilting machine 30 miles away. In October 2014 I saw an ad on craigslist for a Gammill long arm quilting machine. I made several calls to the seller. Within a couple days, my youngest son and I drove to Texas, and loaded the long arm quilting machine into the back of my horse trailer. I was now in the long arm business, but didn't have any idea what I had gotten myself into. I had never even seen a long arm quilting machine before. We brought the quilting machine home. My son and husband reassembled the Gammill in a room on the back of my barn. Within a few months we had the room complete, the Gammill serviced, and a few quilts completed.  It has been an exciting journey so far. Being a part of the world of quilting, I see that each quilt has it's own journey to tell. Each story is worth telling, and should be told as the quilts are passed along.

Watching women who have influenced me, I've reflected on the beautiful pieces of each of their lives they share with me. I realized each life lived resembles the making of a quilt. With each passing year, with each passing event, with each passing sunrise and sunset, our life begins to take shape. Each piece fits into a special place on our quilt called life. Before we know it, our life seems to pass by. This blog is to share some of my journeys as I piece quilts together, and also to share some of my personal journeys as I piece my life together.
